Dr. David Goldberg was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He earned his medical degree from the University of Manitoba in 1987 and completed his postgraduate training in Family Medicine at McGill University in Montreal.
Early in his career, Dr. Goldberg practiced in northwestern Ontario, where he provided comprehensive care to small and remote communities, as well as locum coverage in Cobourg, Ontario.
In 1993, he founded the Whitefoot Medical Clinic at Big White Ski Resort,
delivering seasonal care for three years before relocating to Kelowna.
In 1997, Dr. Goldberg co-founded Lakeshore Medical Clinic alongside Dr. Adrian Hughes. The clinic expanded in 2004 with the addition of Dr. Peter Butterworth. He has remained a dedicated member of the practice ever since, providing longitudinal, patient-centered care to the community.
In 2014, Dr. Goldberg broadened his clinical scope by working part-time as a surgical assistant, with a focus on orthopedic procedures. This role has complemented his family practice by deepening his expertise in musculoskeletal care.
For over 20 years, he has served as a Clinical Teaching Instructor with the University of British Columbia’s Southern Medical Program, where he has mentored first- and second-year medical students and contributed to the development of future physicians.
In 2023, Dr. Goldberg authored Jokes You’ll Love to Tell , a collection of jokes shared in the operating room to help maintain team focus and morale during appropriate downtime (never during active surgical procedures). Proceeds from the book support the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation and Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada.
He is a firm believer that humour plays an important role in patient care and team well-being.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Goldberg enjoys skiing, hiking, and playing pickleball—activities that reflect his long-standing connection to the Okanagan lifestyle.
As he looks ahead to retirement, Dr. Goldberg takes pride in the continuity of care his patients will receive and is confident they will remain in excellent hands within the EB Medical family.
