Dr. Chibuike Nnanyelugo Mba

Dr. Mba is an amiable fellow with over 20 years of experience in medical practice, spanning multiple clinical specialties, which he brings to bear in his role as a family physician. In addition to family medicine, Dr. Mba boasts a range of other clinical skills, including comprehensive eye care, minor surgical procedures, and joint injections.

After graduating in 2004 from Ebonyi State University in Southeastern Nigeria, he proceeded to complete his internship at the then Federal Medical Centre Abakaliki, Southeastern Nigeria, in 2005, after which he completed the compulsory 1-year National Youth Service at the Primary Health Centre Malumfashi, Northern Nigeria, in 2006.

In 2007, Dr. Mba commenced residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, Southeastern Nigeria. During this training, he completed rotations in neurology, endocrinology, microbiology, histopathology, hematology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, and, primarily, ophthalmology. After completing his ophthalmology residency in 2014, he joined his wife in the UK, where he worked as a locum doctor in various specialties, including neurosurgery, orthopaedics, acute medicine, gastroenterology, and accident and emergency. He eventually commenced a substantive role as a specialty doctor in Ophthalmology at the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole, NHS Foundation Trust in 2016 and at The Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Teaching Trust in 2019.

Through his various roles in secondary and tertiary care (as a hospital doctor), Dr. Mba often felt that many of his patients could have been better served by more robust primary care. This drove him to become part of the solution, so in 2021, he enrolled to retrain as a family doctor in the UK, completing his training in April 2025.

Dr. Mba is happily married to his wife of 15 years, Amarachi, who is also a family doctor; they have four children. He loves to read, going to the movies, and playing chess.
